Eagle Peak Saddle
Mount Rainier National Park
| August 4, 2007 - A Mountaineers hike.. Clouds obscured
the views as we ascended the trail through a beautiful forest to the
Eagle Peak saddle. Just before making a final, very steep climb to
the saddle, the trail switchbacks through a lovely meadow, which was
filled with wildflowers and inhabited by some very vocal marmots.
The clouds that were surrounding Mount Rainier cleared very briefly once
we reached the saddle, and after we began our return trip, the sun
finally came out.
Elevation gain 2955' 7.2 miles roundtrip
