| JANUARY 2, 2011 A snowshoe outing with a group of good
friends. It was a bright, cold day when our group of 6 headed up
to Snoqualmie Pass for an easy snowshoe outing. Gold Creek
Basin may be the bunny slopes of snowshoeing, but it is a place of
uncommon beauty on a sunny day such as this. Although it was only
11º when we started our hike from
the Sno Park, we warmed up as soon as we broke out of the trees and into
the bright sunshine. The trail was already broken, but we had it
mostly to ourselves for the morning. By the time we
completed the Gold Creek Loop hike, we were cold and ready for hot
chocolate and soup. Crowds of people were hiking in as we were
hiking out, making us glad that we had made such an early start.
It was 22º when we got back to the
Sno Park, and a balmy 40ºwhen we got
back to Seattle.
