| December 20, 2008 Trapped in the city by
snowstorms, 14 days and counting since my last hike....Time for an urban
hike. Although this outing had no elevation gain, I managed to
make an 8-mile lollipop loop from my home to Green Lake, up through
Woodland Park, back to and around the lake and home again. There
were hundreds of people skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, jogging, cycling,
walking dogs, sledding, building snow forts and snowpeople, and having
snowball fights. In some areas of Woodland Park, the snowy woods
were quiet and deserted, and I could almost forget that I was hiking in
the city.
