| JANUARY 30, 2010 A Mountaineers snowshoe. There
was no fresh snow for this snowshoe hike along Lanham Creek to the Lake,
and although the woods had a messy, unmade appearance, they were still
pretty. The trail climbs gently but steadily, then crosses a
groomed ski track before it enters a forest of snow-covered Christmas
trees. You know you are almost at the lake when the trail
steepens in a lovely old-growth forest. After lunch we hiked
around the lake before starting our return trip. We met a
family in the clearing under the power lines who had built a snow-dog
while we were at the lake.
