It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. 2008 was a fun year. I hiked higher, longer, and farther than I have in previous years, and I spent part of almost every weekend outdoors. And although I frequently pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone this year, I also did a lot of comfort hiking, too, and repeated hikes to some of my favorite places (Colchuck and Stuart Lakes, Ingalls Pass where the goats are, Snow Lake (near Alpental), Snow and Nada Lakes, Rachel Lake and Rampart Ridge, and Navaho Pass). The conditioning hiking course I participated in this year helped me expand my horizons and my pool of hiking partners. I met lots of great people and visited some of the most amazing places I've ever been. My hiking tastes have changed over the years, and now I know that I love the high places. My favorite hikes are on ridges above tree line, and I'm never happier than when I'm in the Stuart Mountains.
